Duplicate Key Found in Air Controls

I was reassigning my BF2 keys the other day and got this stupid "Duplicate Keys Found in Air Controls" message. I thought I'd post how I fixed it here.


Open Windows Explorer and go to your My Documents folder and open up Battlefield 2\Profiles.


Inside may be several folders named 0001 0002 0003 etc depending on how many profiles you actually have in BF2.


Open up the 0001 folder and you'll find a file called controls.con, open it up with notepad. It will look like this:

ControlMap.addButtonsToAxisMapping c_PIThrottle IDFGameController_0 IDButton_2 None 0
ControlMap.addButtonToTriggerMapping c_PIFire IDFGameController_0 IDButton_6 0 0
ControlMap.addKeyToTriggerMapping c_PIMouseLook IDFKeyboard IDKey_LeftCtrl 0 0
ControlMap.addKeyToTriggerMapping c_PIAltSprint IDFKeyboard IDKey_W 1000 0
ControlMap.addButtonToTriggerMapping c_PISprint IDFGameController_0 IDButton_3 0 0

You can already see where I'm going just by looking at the structure of how the keys are assigned. The functional part of each line you'll want to edit starts with IDF. Simply cut & paste the control inputs at will. I altered the above sample to show you what I mean.

I've even had success mapping multiple functions to the same key, switching my view to chase rear when I drop bombs to see how they hit.
